We specialize in big box retail open-store remodels and are looking for an experienced Junior Safety Manager to support our Walmart projects out of our Lexington SC office. The Junior Safety Manager supports the project team in implementing and maintaining safety programs across active commercial construction sites. This role is ideal for someone early in their safety career who is eager to learn, grow, and contribute to a strong safety culture. The Junior Safety Manager works under the guidance of senior safety leadership to ensure compliance with company policies, OSHA regulations, and project-specific requirements.
The Junior Safety Manager supports the project team in implementing and maintaining safety programs across active commercial construction sites. The Junior Safety Manager works under the guidance of senior safety leadership to ensure compliance with company policies, OSHA regulations, and project-specific requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in daily site safety inspections to identify hazards, unsafe conditions, and opportunities for improvement.
- Support the development, communication, and enforcement of site-specific safety plans.
- Conduct or help facilitate toolbox talks, safety orientations, and training sessions for subcontractors and employees.
- Document safety observations, incidents, near misses, and corrective actions using company reporting tools.
- Participate in incident investigations and help prepare reports with root-cause analysis and recommended preventive measures.
- Monitor compliance with PPE requirements, fall protection standards, equipment operation protocols, and other safety procedures.
- Collaborate with project managers, superintendents, and subcontractors to promote a proactive safety culture.
- Assist with maintaining safety documentation, permits, logs, and regulatory records.
- Help ensure emergency response plans are in place and understood by site personnel.
- Stay current on OSHA standards, industry best practices, and company safety policies.
Qualifications:
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Construction Management, Environmental Health, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- 0-2 years of experience in construction safety; internships or field exposure preferred.
- Basic knowledge of OSHA 1926 construction standards.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to engage field teams.
- Detail-oriented with solid documentation and organizational abilities.
- Willingness to work outdoors in active construction environments.
- Ability to learn quickly, take direction, and grow into increasing responsibility.
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification preferred (or willingness to obtain).
